Abstract:
The purpose of this research is the use of SMA rods in eccentrically braced frame with vertical link (V-EBF) to reduce permanent displacement after earthquake. For this reason, in this study, the nonlinear behavior of linked beams in eccentrically braced frame was modeled using experimental models provided by other researchers and compared with laboratory results. After validation, a ۱۲ story V-EBF and equipped with SMA rods was designed and its performance was compared with a similar structure without SMA rods. In order to compare the two structures, Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA) was performed. The results of IDA analysis indicate that the use of SMA rods improves and seismic performance provides an excellent reversibility capacity which considerably reduces residual displacement of structure.
