Abstract:

Basically, a good concrete is the one which has desirable and acceptable compressive strength. Obtaining such strength indicates that the other properties such as tensile strength, specific weight, impermeability, durability etc. should also be improved parallel to the compressive strength. In this work, the effects of calcium hydroxyapatite powder (CHP) with the values of ۱-۷ wt.% on the compressive strength, tensile strength and water absorbing of concrete and cement mortar samples are investigated. The results showed that low values of CHP could be effective in terms of improving mechanical properties of concrete and cement mortar. Due to various hydrogen bonds and interaction of CHP with calcium anions of silicate cement, the strength of the concrete or cement mortar was increased.
