Abstract:

The dehydrogenation of propane was investigated using iron oxide-based catalysts on two supports. CeO۲ and SiO۲ as supports were used. The samples were prepared through the impregnation method. The concentration of acidic sites of the catalyst was determined by Temperature-programmed desorption of NH۳ (NH۳-TPD) analysis. The supported catalyst with CeO۲ had the higher concentrations of acidic sites. Fe۲O۳/CeO۲ sample had a higher content of weak acid sites compared to Fe۲O۳/SiO۲. The Fe۲O۳/SiO۲ catalyst had better performance. The effect of the presence and absence of carbon dioxide was checked out in the dehydrogenation reaction. The presence of carbon dioxide increased the stability of the catalyst.
