Abstract:

ACECR engages in innovative research and development projects in different fields of science and technology and real-world applications. Its activities can be broadly divided into the areas of research and technology, education, and cultural activities. This research group has been working on process and energy engineering from ۱۵ years ago. Unconventional water treatment has been one of the interesting fields. Some projects have been conducted and some new processes are under investigation.Using Solar Thermal Heat as the energy source of the thermal seawater desalination plants has advantages for Iran including: ۱. Appropriate access to salty and brackish water ۲. Proper access to solar radiation ۳. Existence of technology for manufacturing solar parabolic collectors in Iran ۴. Existence of technology for manufacturing various types of thermal desalination plants in Iran ۵. The possibility of developing the system to generate electricity and heat without the need for any external energy sources ۶. Protecting the environment from two aspects: a. Preventing the burning of fossil fuels and emitting greenhouse gases and b. Considering low waste compared to RO desalination units۷. Low operational cost compared to conventional water desalination methods ۸. The possibility of desalination in the scale of the water supply of cities ۹. The possibility of developing the system to produce solar cooling through the supply of absorption chillers
