Abstract:

A two-dimensional highly-packed locally resonant metamaterial (LRM) reinforced with car-bon nanotube (CNT) is investigated in this paper. Due to the high-volume fraction of coated resonators in the host material, the in-plane mode dispersion curve is affected by the resona-tors interaction. CNTs are added to LRM in order to increase the host modulus and thus re-duce the resonators movement interactions. So, the resonances are almost local and do not af-fect each other. This issue leads to a new band gap (BG) generation in the in-plane mode dis-persion curve. Therefore, the novelty of the present study is new BG formation through add-ing CNT to the LRM host material. The dispersion curve is obtained via COMSOL Mul-tiphysics software. As much as the host modulus increases the new BG widens. Quantitative-ly, the host modulus three-time improvement results in a new BG within ۱۲۳۷Hz to ۱۲۸۸Hz. Moreover, partial BG in the dispersion curve is widened by the host modulus enhancement. Furthermore, the wave transmission spectra are acquired by the COMSOL. It is shown that, frequency ranges with low wave transmission are in agreement with the BGs in the disper-sion curve.
