The antifungal effects of Allium sativum and Artemisia sieberia extracts on hatching and survival rates of rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss (Walbaum,۱۹۷۲) larvae

Abstract:

This study was conducted  to evaluate the antifungal effects of garlic (Allium sativum) and wormwood (Artemisia sieberia) ۸۰-۸۵% purity ethanolic extracts on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) eggs incubation and larvae survival rate. The experimental group divided to three different doses of garlic (۵۰,۱۰۰,۲۰۰ ppm), wormwood (۲۵, ۵۰, ۱۰۰ ppm), green malachite (۲ ppm) as positive control group and none pharmacological intervention (negative control group) with three replications. There were significant differences (p<۰.۰۵) between treatments in green eggs, eyed eggs from hatched and larval stage mortality rate. The maximum mortality rate in green eggs were shown in negative control group (۳۳.۳۵±۰۱۴%), ۲۰۰ppm garlic (۱۳.۱۱±۰.۰۹%) and wormwood (۱۳.۰۷±۰.۰۷%) respectively.  Positive control group (۶.۹±۰.۱۵%), high amount of garlic extract (۷.۶۲±۰.۲۱%) and ۱۰۰ppm wormwood extracts (۸.۰۱±۰.۱%) had the lower levels of mortality rate from eyed eggs till hatched respectively .Besides, the third stages (hatching from ۱ g) of exam there were significant difference in larval survival rate between treatments (p<۰.۰۵). Malachite green had the best level in this time and the maximum levels of garlic and wormwood extracts had same amount of survival rate after control positive group. Base on statistical analysis the lowest point of garlic and wormwood extracts put in same step and no significant differences together. All in all, garlic extract had the best result in each stage than malachite; probably we can replace that as fungicide on (Oncorhynchus mykiss) eggs and larvae culture.
