Word Recall Performance in Males and Females

Words play an important role in learning languages. Remembering words is just as important as learning them. People must be able to recognize and recall words and their meanings so that they can communicate with each other. The objectives of this research are to examine: ۱. The differences between males and females in word recall performance in general; ۲. The differences between males and females in abstract word recall performance; ۳. The differences between males and females in concrete words recall performance. To aim these objectives, ۲۳ males and ۲۳ females participated in an online class in which ۲۰ words -۱۰ abstract words and ۱۰ concrete words- were taught to them. Then, a test consisting of ۲۰ questions was given to the participants. To analyze the data SPSS software version ۲۶, and a one-way ANOVA test was used. The results showed that: ۱. In general, there is a significant difference between the word recall performance in males and females; ۲. Females outperform males in recalling abstract words. ۳. Males and females perform equally in recalling concrete words
