Abstract:

In this research, the efficiency of a linear parabolic solar collector has been investigated numerically with the insertion of spiral tapes in the flow path. Accordingly, different three-dimensional models such as ۲۵ mm diameter narrow tape (NST), ۵۰ mm wide wide tape (WST) and ۵۰ mm diameter double row (WST-۲N) wide wide tape have been simulated in ANSYS Fluent software. The effect of parameters such as temperature, speed, pressure, turbulence energy and friction coefficient on the performance of the collector with Syltherm۸۰۰ base fluid and MWCNT carbon nanoparticles was evaluated. The finite volume method is used in order to perform CFD calculations in the software and the Monte Carlo method is used to measure the non-uniform flow flux. The addition of carbon nanoparticles and its application in the new spiral tape design is one of the creative implementation ideas for turbulent flow to achieve higher heat transfer in collectors. The results of numerical analysis show that the collector efficiency increases by about ۲۱.۳% with increasing nanofluid concentration (Syltherm۸۰۰-MWCNT) from ۰.۰۱ to ۰.۰۵. Also, by changing the spiral tapes from spiral tape arrangement (narrow and wide) to two-row wide wide tape (WST-۲N) in the most optimal condition (temperature ۶۰۰ and concentration ۰.۰۵), the total heat transfer rate of the system increases by ۵%. Therefore, the current solar parabolic collector system with these facilities has the best performance among the current available collectors.
