Abstract:

The present study aimed to analyze the concepts of color discrimination and class distinction in the depicted society of the United States of America in Breakfast of Champions by Kurt Vonnegut. In this study, those parts of the story which represented concepts of racism and color discrimination are identified. After identifying the words and phrases, the researcher carried out the conceptual analysis and interpretation in light of Chomsky’s political ideas. In Breakfast of Champions, Vonnegut (۱۹۷۳) puts great emphasis on color and the discrimination it makes. He also refers to the slavery of blacks and what happened to them after Slavery Abolition. The findings of the present study highlighted the human rights violations towards black people in the domestic society of the United States as mentioned in Vonnegut’s work.
