Abstract:

Propolis is a well-known resin that is collected by bees from plant secretions and combined with bee enzymes, pollen and wax, and due to its antimicrobial properties, can protect the colony from disease. Due to the increasing resistance of pathogenic bacteria to common antibiotics, it is important to find natural antimicrobial agents asalternative drugs. In this study, the antibacterial effects of propolis and ۲۰% oxytetracycline were compared. First, the required propolis was collected from the research apiaries of Islamic Azad University, Kazerun Branch and extracted from it in the laboratory. Then Streptococcus plutonium, the causative agent of European bee disease, was cultured in a specific medium and exposed to various dilutions of propolis ethanolic extracts and oxytetracycline. MIC and MBC samples were determined by disk diffusion test and plate well. The data were analyzed by SAS software. The results showed that although the ethanolic extract of propolis had less antibacterial properties compared to oxytetracycline (p <۰.۰۱), but a significant effect on the rate of inhibition and Killing the bacterium Streptococcus plutonium. Ethanol wax at a concentration of ۰.۴۳ mg / ml was able to eliminate the cause of European onion disease.
