Abstract:

Passengers’ comfort, ability to effective damping of external shocks and loads plus good handling are the key parameters in designing of passenger car’s suspension system. In this research, feasibility study of using Electro-Magnetic Suspension with Magnetorheological (MR) damper on a PEUGEOT ۲۰۶ car is investigated. Equations of motion for full-vehicle model with ۷ DOF and modified Bouc-Wen model are derived analytically. By simulation with SIMULINK in MATLAB software, dynamical behavior of conventional and new systems are compared together. Results have shown reasonable improvement in vertical, roll and pitch acceleration and other damping characteristics of new system and its overall performance, comparing to conventional system.
