Abstract:
In this paper, chaotic behavior of nanoscale piezoelectric energy harvesters is studied numerically. The proposed system of this work consists of a nanobeam with piezoelectric layers undergoes axial load. When the exposed axial load exceeds the critical buckling laod, the nanobeam deforms to the post-buckled configuration, where the piezoelectric energy harvester enters into the bi-stable regime with two stable equilibria and one unstable equilibrium. In this stage, the possibility of chaotic vibration is discussed. Then, using the numerical method of Runge–Kutta, chaos in the response of nano-electro-mechanical (NEMS) energy harvester is detected through plotting of time history, fast Fourier transfer and Poincaré sections
