Pursuing the Traits of Historical Research in a Study of Islamic Architecture

This paper seeks to illustrate that the traits of historical research receive attention in Islamic Art and Architecture (۶۵۰-۱۲۵۰), a distinguished Islamic architecture book. The book shows that historians of Islamic art and architecture can employ various means of unearthing evidences from the past. The paper delineates how the interpretation of historical facts becomes in conformity with the objectives of that study of Islamic architecture. It then explains the aspects of chronological categories in the book. The book use periodization of centuries for dealing with the history of Islamic art and architecture. This paper finally discusses the primary criterion of periodization considered in the book.
