Abstract:

This study aims to evaluate patients’ satisfaction with the care received from the teaching hospital in Tehran University of Medical Sciences and use it to audit services. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study. An interviewer administered questionnaire was administered to ۳۹۶ consecutive consenting patients seen at the eye hospital of the Tehran University of Medical Sciences. The questionnaire asked questions regarding satisfaction with the time spent in the clinic, attitude of various categories of staff, physical facilities, cleanliness of the clinic and willingness to come again to the clinic or recommend it to others in ۲۰۱۸. The respondents were more satisfied with the attitude of the doctors and nurses than that of official and cleaning clerks (P = ۰.۰۰۰). Most patients, ۳۴۱ (۸۶.۱%) expressed satisfaction with the overall cleanliness of the eye clinic; ۳۲۰ (۸۰.۸۰%) and ۴۹ (۱۲.۴%) were not satisfied with the toilet facilities and Physical facilities, respectively. Only ۱۶۳ (۴۱.۱۶%) participants will recommend the hospital to others strongly, ۱۸۴(۴۶.۷۱%) will do so hesitantly. The patients were relatively highly satisfied with the ophthalmologic services overall; however, certain aspects such as Health facilities, time spent in clinic and convenience should be improved.
