Abstract:

In this study, an asymmetrical interleaved high step-up DC-DC converter is suggested. Regarding the interleaved structure of the introduced topology, the current ripple of the implemented renewable input source like photovoltaic (PV) or fuel cell (FC) is trivial and can be considered almost zero, which results in high efficiency and longevity of the renewable energy systems. The converter’s operation is based on quadratic boost converter and the coupling between the converter’s inductors. Accordingly, the presented structure provides such an extremely high gain that in the case of implementing averaged parameters’ values like duty ratio = ۰.۵ and coupling ratio = ۱, the output voltage is ۲۰ times greater than the input voltage provided by renewable source. Since the suggested converter is able of producing a high output voltage level without the need for extremely high duty cycles, the converter’s total losses have been decreased. Also, the voltage stress across the switches is low in the proposed converter. Consequently, choosing switches with lower drain-source resistance (RDS) can be resulted which leads in the converter’s higher efficiency. Ultimately, the simulation results by MATLAB/Simulink software have been prepared to validate presented topology’s correct performance.
