Abstract:
Friction surface cladding (FSC) is a newly developed cladding process which can be used to deposit a metal material on a metal substrate without melting (solid-state). It is similar to friction surfacing but has not most of its disadvantages. In the present study, it is tried to model the FSC process in its steady-state condition using Abaqus software. The model is validated using temperature data from an experimental study. The temperature and stress distributions in the coat and substrate are reported. It is seen that in regions where vertical flow of material is not available, the stress distribution curve is more continuous. On the other hand, the maximum absolute value of stress has inverse behavior in the coat and substrate.
