Absorber Column Hydraulic Analysis in a Natural Gas Sweetening Plant

Acid gases are the main inappropriate components in a natural gas stream, these compoundsshould be removed from natural gas before consumption. There are many methods of acid gas removalfrom a natural gas stream; amine scrubbing in tray towers is a mature and most used method in gassweetening. Absorber columns usually have some operation issues, which causes to column can’toperate properly. With Hydraulic analysis tool which is available in Aspen HYSYS we can investigatehydraulic behavior of absorber column to identify operation problems. In This study, we simulate acommon sweetening plant in Aspen HYSYS V ۱۲.۱ and fix its operating problems with some columninternal modifications.
