Abstract:

In this study adsorption of ۱-chloro-۴-nitrobenzene on single walled carbon nanotubes has been investigated.  The effect of contact time, pH, initial concentration of ۱-chloro-۴-nitrobenzene, adsorbent dosage and temperature on its adsorption has been carried out in order to find optimum adsorption conditions. Adsorption isotherms and related constants were also determined. Results showed that contact time to reach equilibrium was ۶۰ min at ۲۵°C and after that a little change of ۱-chloro-۴-nitrobenzene removal efficiency was observed. The results show that maximum ۱-chloro-۴-nitrobenzene removal (۸۱.۹ %) obtained at pH of ۶ and it decreased at higher initial ۱-chloro-۴-nitrobenzene concentration, lower adsorbent doses and lower temperature. Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin isotherm models were used to test the equilibrium data. Adsorption test results revealed that ۱-chloro-۴-nitrobenzene adsorption on the studied adsorbents could be better described by Freundlich isotherm.
