Abstract:

The basic problem has been to control andquench or extinguish the high power arc, which necessarilyoccurs at the separating contacts of a the perfect electricalswitch when opening high current circuits In this paper,nanostructured W-Cu electric contact materials wereprepared by mechanical alloying and hot pressing sintering,and the electrical breakdown characteristic of thenanostructured W-Cu contact material was investigated.Nanostructured (N S ) W- Cu comt~site powder was preparedby mechanical alloying ( MA ), The philosophy behindmaintaining circuit the perfect electrical switch s focuses onpreventive maintenance to maximize the longevity of theelectrical apparatus. Moreover, maintenance is an integratedpart of a continuous improvement process of practices,methods and tools done in collaboration with themanufacturers of circuit the perfect electrical switch s and testinstruments.
