Abstract:
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are novel micro/nanoporous materials that form from coordination between metal nodes and organic ligands. They have a specific crystalline structure and have desirable properties like large surface area, high thermal stability, and high porosity. These particles in various fields such as adsorption, supercapacitors, drug delivery, gas storage, and catalysts have gained much attention. Moreover, the MOF particles demonstrated excellent anti-corrosion properties and have been successfully identified/reported. However, further study is needed to discover their corrosion resistance behaviors. This article reviews the most recent development of metal-organic frameworks as a corrosion inhibitor, nano-filler, and nanocontainer for anti-corrosion applications.
