Abstract:
The use of biomass as a source of energy has been further enhanced in the recent years and special attention has been paid to the biomass gasification. The rice husk is the outer cover of the rice and on average it accounts for 20% of the paddy produced, on weight basis. Iran as a rice-producing country in the world, produces approximately 3.4 million tons of rice husk annually. The majority of the rice production comes from Mazandaran province. In most cases, coal is added to biomass as a feedstock of the gasifier in order to enrich the heating value of the produced syngas. This process is called as co-gasification. In this study, the effects of input steam temperature, fuel moisture content, preheated air temperature, ratio of coal to fuel on syngas composition and gasifier efficiency are proposed. In this paper, a 1 MW gas turbine using syngas was employed to produce power for local consumers. Furthermore, the influence of the coal ratio to fuel on the flue gas, which was emerged from gasturbine’s stack, was investigated
