Abstract:

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death in the world and that'swhy it has become one of the major problems in the world today. The geneticand molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular disease are not yet wellunderstood and require further research and study. In recent years, manycircular RNAs have been identified that appear to be used as diagnostic andtherapeutic targets for cardiovascular disease and may be involved in thepathogenesis of the cardiovascular disease. Circular RNAs were initiallythought to be the by-products of transcription and splicing. But in recentyears, many circular RNAs have been identified in mammals, and theirexpression has been shown to change in various diseases, such as cancers andcardiovascular diseases.circRNAs are safe from exonucleases due to their covalently closed structureand are more stable than linear RNA (۱). In this study, we examined somecircRNAs and how their function in myocardial infarction (MI) in mice andrats models. circRNAs such as circFndc۳b, MICRA, cdr۱as, circTtc۳, andcircNfix are dysregulated in myocardial infarction (۲). It has been observedthat circFndc۳b, MICRA, and circNfix are downregulated and also cdr۱asand circTtc۳ are upregulated in myocardial infarction (۱,۲). Importantly, notmuch has been identified about circular RNAs, which requires a great deal ofresearch and study about circRNAs. However, it is possible that circularRNAs could be used as diagnostic and therapeutic targets in many diseases, including myocardial infarction (MI) (۱.۲).
