Effects of Panax ginseng on Health-Related Quality of Life in patients with non-metastatic breast cancer: Arandomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial

Being diagnosed with breast cancer in parallelwith chemotherapy impose distressing symptomson patients' Health-Related Quality of Life(HRQOL). This prospective study evaluated theimpact of ginseng supplementation on improvingmultiple aspects of HRQOL in breast cancerpatients.Forty women with non-metastatic early breastcancer were enrolled in the study. Participantsreceived ginseng (۱ g/day) or placebo inconjunction with standard anticancer therapy.HRQOL was evaluated via in-person interviewsat baseline, two weeks after the second and lastchemotherapy cycles. The FACT-B, a ۳۷-itemquestionnaire composed of five subscalesincluding physical well-being (PWB), social wellbeing(SWB), emotional well-being (EWB),functional well-being (FWB), and Breast CancerSubscale (BCS) was employed for assessmentof HRQOL.
