Abstract:

Cancer is one of the main causes of death inthe world. In recent years, many studies havebeen conducted on the usage of nanomaterialsin cancer treatment. In previous studies, theanti-tumor effects of mesoporous silicananoparticles (MSN) on cancer cells have beenshown. The aim of this study was to evaluatethe effect of MSN loaded with Hematoporphyrin(HpD) on the cell proliferation and invasion ofMCF۷ (Michigan Cancer Foundation-۷) breastcancer cell line. The antioxidant effects of MSNloaded with HpD were also investigated.In this study, using MTT [۳-(۴,۵-dimethylthiazol-۲-yl)-۲,۵-diphenyltetrazolium bromide] assay,the proliferation and viability of cancer cellswere studied after exposure to MSN loadedwith HpD. The wound healing assay technique(migration test) was used for the assessmentof cancer cells’ invasion. The antioxidanteffects of MSN loaded with HpD were studiedby DPPH (۲,۲-diphenyl-۱-picrylhydrazyl) assayand FRAP (ferric reducing/antioxidant power)assay techniques.
