Abstract:

Introduction: Abuse of stimulants is correlated with high rates of smoking. Nevertheless, little is known about the association between nicotine and stimulants. This review aimed to identify the impact of cigarette smoking in stimulant abuse.Method: In the present review, we used scientific articles about the Cigarette smoking and stimulant addiction, indexed in the PubMed, Google Scholar, during ۲۰۱۰-۲۰۱۸.Results: Repeated exposure to nicotine results in the development of stimulant addiction. Several investigations support a facilitative role of nicotinic agonists in the development of stimulant addiction. Smoking seems to be linked with more extreme stimulant abuse and also linked with poorer outcomes. Conclusions: This study suggested that incorporating smoking cessation into stimulant use treatment can ameliorate nicotine and stimulant treatment outcomes.
