Abstract:

In this research, nickel-manganese oxide was prepared by two-stage sono-thermal method and its electrochemical properties have been studied. In order to prepare NiMnO۳ nanostructures, first metal oxides MnO۲ and NiO were prepared by sonochemical oxidation reaction and then NiMnO۳ nanostructure was obtained by heating in a furnace. The structure and morphology of the synthesized NiMnO۳ nanostructures were confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. The reaction temperature and raw material concentration were optimized to obtain nanoparticles with suitable morphology and the smallest possible dimensions. The electrochemical performance of nickel-manganese oxide as the main cathode material of Li/NiMnO۳ primary batteries was investigated, using LiClO۴ in propylene carbonate as electrolyte and lithium metal as anode. Based on the results obtained from the discharge diagram in constant current, a very high capacity of ۱۹۳.۰۲ mAhg-۱ was observed. It should be noted that the open circuit voltage of these batteries was in the range of ۳.۴۵ to ۳.۳۱ volts and all tests were performed at room temperature and inside the Glovebox under argon atmosphere.
