The effects of Nb, Nb–Mo microalloy additions on the precipitation strengthening and microstructure of two high-strength low-alloy steels were investigated. It was found that niobium molybdenum complex carbide, (Nb, Mo)C can strongly maintain nanometer-scaled size, and additionally it has the larger contribution to the hardness as compared to niobium carbide, NbC.
