Abstract:

Embryonic stem cells are pluripotent stem cells that have the ability to regenerate indefinitely and differentiate into all differentiated cells in the body. With respect to their two major properties (unlimited self-renewal and pluripotency), these cells have various biomedical applications in basic research and cell-based therapies. Transplantation of embryonic stem cell-derived differentiated cells is allogeneic and therefore faces the problem of immune rejection after transplanting embryonic stem cell-derived cells into a patient. In ۲۰۰۶, Japanese researchers reported developing a new type of pluripotent stem cell that could overcome the problems of immune rejection associated with the use of embryonic stem cells. They named these cells induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) because their production from differentiated somatic cells was "induced" using a combination of four transcription factors associated with embryonic stem cells. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) show excellent therapeutic potential in many preclinical and clinical studies. However, traditional tissue-derived MSC clinical applications face challenges due to their limited expandability and wide donor variability. To address these challenges, have developed a protocol for deriving and characterization MSCs from theoretically unlimited expandable human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). In summary, iPSCMSC has biological properties equal to or better than those of the early passage bone marrow MSC and can be scaled in large quantities with consistent properties. In this review, will be discussed on the advantages of iMSC over MSC and MSC applications.
