In many of arid and semi-arid areas the agricultural, industrial and potable water demands are provided by groundwater resources. In this study, the spatial and temporal variations of some qualitative characteristics of Boukan plain groundwater such as Calcium, Magnesium, Electrical Conductivity and PH have been investigated utilizing the Geographic Information System (GIS). The results of Investigation of high-water and low-water seasons and intensive loss of groundwater level revealed that during the periods of low water and severe losing of groundwater levels, the quality of groundwater resources has become highly undesirable. Analysis of the spatial variations of the qualitative parameters showed that the Amirabad region is in an undesirable situation due to entry of domestic wastewater and landfill site. Moreover, analysis of the qualitative profile that was plotted along the river Siminehrood, showed that in the last years, quality of headwaters has decreased in distance between ۸۰۰۰ to ۱۲۰۰۰ meters, and near to Amirabad region.
