Abstract:

Objective: Pros tate cancer s tem cell (PCSC) is one of the subcategoriesof cancer cells with the ability of self-renewal, flexibility, onset, and maintaining of tumorigenesis. The purposeof this s tudy is to inves tigate the gene expression patterns ofpros tate s tem cells compared to normal tissue. Given the roleof these cells in s tability and tumor development, the results ofthis s tudy can reveal the differentiation mechanism of pros tatecancer s tem cells to cancer cells, which leads to potential therapeutics trategies to target genes controlling this differentiation.Materials and Methods: The data relevant to normal tissuesand cancer s tem cells were collected from GEO database withGSE۵۵۹۴۵ and GSE۱۹۷۱۳. For each category, ۳ sets of datawere used. The applied platform was [HG-U۱۳۳_Plus_۲] AffymetrixHuman Genome U۱۳۳ Plus ۲.۰ Array. Data analysis wasdone by R software. After entering the commands related tothe directory setting, showing microarray images, and drawinghis togram, data were normalized. Subsequently, heatmap commandswere inputted in order to observe the gene expressionpatterns. Results: Our results showed that there is a discernible differencebetween the gene expression patterns of these two groups. To elucidate, a high proportion of PCSC genes experienced anupregulation and/or downregulation pattern. Conclusion: Evaluation of PCSCs and their differentiationmechanism can contribute to valuable discoveries in pros tatecancer treatment and heighten the knowledge about this specificarea of science.
