This Paper studies the word “BRAUT” in german language and the ethymology comparing to a few other Indo-european languages. There are many meanings related to this word such as: legal partner, woman on her wedding’s day, fiancée, bride, maid, bedfellow, which are coming from different old and middle texts. Probably the term “Hochzeit” (= wedding) comes from an adjective meaning in past. According to the ethymological view, should be necessary not to forget the cultural aspect of this word.
