A NEW APPROACH IN ESTIMATION OF ARCHIE S PARAMETERS: APPLICATION OF GENETIC ALGORITHM IN CASE STUDIES PERMIAN GLERITO AND PERMIAN CLEARFORK RESERVOIRS

Different procedures have been proposed to calculate the Archie s equation parameters, but most of them suffer from lack of accuracy as these are not solvedsimultaneously. In this article, by applying a novelmethod, Genetic Algorithm (GA), the above mentioned unknown parameters were determinedaccurately. In addition during two case studies on two data sets from Permian Glerito and Permian Clearfork reservoirs a comparison is made between previousmethods (e.g. Traditional graphical method, HDP and SmnaM) and the proposed methods which demonstrated the incredibly higher accuracy of thetwo newly proposed methods whereas they showed more sensitivity to random scattering of data. Consequently, reliable accuracy of the proposedmethods makes them attractive to be applied for solving similar engineering problems.
