Abstract:

Objectives: Parental rejection and acceptance can affect the resilience of the child and this resilience can affect spiritual well-being. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of resilience in the relationship between the dimensions of parental rejection-acceptance and psychological well-being in female students. Methods: The present study is a modeling of structural equations and path analysis and was analyzed using AMOS software. The tools of the present study were Rohner Rejection and acceptance Questionnaire, Conor & Davidson Resiliency Scale, and Dehshiri Spiritual Well-being Questionnaire. Results: The results showed that after modifying the research model, the fit indices indicate the optimal fit of the model to the data. The findings also showed that among the dimensions of rejection-acceptance, only the rejecting subscale had a direct and significant effect on spiritual well-being (Beta = -۰/۷۳۴ and P=۰/۰۰۱). Also, only the acceptance-affection subscale has a significant indirect effect on spiritual well-being through resilience (Beta = ۰/۲۲۳ and P=۰/۰۰۵).Conclusions: If parents increase their children's acceptance and reduce their rejection, they increase their children's ability to cope with adversity and resilience by increasing their self-esteem and positive thinking, thereby psychological distress decreases and increases spiritual well-being in children.
