Abstract:

The implementation of girder connections in very sensitive steel structures requires expert personnel and accurate implementation, which with the slightest negligence can lead to the overall failure of the structure. Accordingly, in this study, an attempt is made to develop a new type of girder connection to the steel column based on Stretching cables should be introduced in two forms, crosswise and diagonally, which are easier to implement, faster and more economical compared to the common clamp connections. Also, this type of connection can be used to strengthen damaged connections .In this regard, the influence of the diameter and length parameters of cross and diagonal cables on the seismic behavior of the proposed girder connections has been investigated and compared with an example of a common girder connection. Abaqus finite element software has been used to simulate the samples. The results showed that in the samples with the proposed connection with a cross cable, the length of the cables less than ۴۰۰ mm, led to the creation of plastic joints inside the connection spring, and the length more than ۴۵۰ mm led to the increase of deformations and damage inside the beam, and it is optimal The maximum length for the connection cables is ۴۵۰ mm, which with the appropriate length of the cable, consumes the incoming energy and prevents many deformations and damages inside the beam, column and especially the connection spring. It was found that the use of diagonal cables of any length has led to the reduction of failures in the connection of the beam to the retaining column. By increasing the length of the diameter cable up to ۴۰۰ mm, the number of failures has been reduced, and a length greater than ۴۰۰ mm has led to an increase in deformations and failures inside the beam, and the most optimal length for connecting diameter cables is ۴۰۰ mm, which is the right length. The cable has dissipated the incoming energy and prevented many deformations and damages inside the beam, column and especially the connection spring .
