In this article, in the introduction section, the history of transformers and transformer losses are described. Then the losses of the transformer and its types are briefly explained. The next section describes the three main types of steel cores used in magnetic transformers, including solid iron/steel, multi-layer silicon alloy/silicon steel, and amorphous (stainless) steel. Then, the structure of amorphous core and silicon steel transformers, the amount of losses and the cost of losses have been investigated. At the end, the conclusion is given.
