Abstract:

Organic–inorganic nanocomposites are very interesting and promising class of materials as their potential use in a wide range of conventional application fields. The preparation of organic–inorganic nanohybrids in a form of emulsion is much preferable because of its easy processability [1]. More recently Chau et al. reported some modified coating properties like as hardness and transparency of a nonocomposite consist of silica/PMMA prepared just by simple blending of these two phases [2]. While in the other similar works [3, 4] the nanocomposites have been prepared by emulsion or miniemulsion process resulting a diluted latex (20%) with any preferred application nor highlighted properties for them.In this study, the Nanocomposites latex of silica /acrylate polymer (NAm) have been prepared by miniemulsion polymerization; since the acrylic latex can be used as the waterborne resins for the paints and coatings, we investigated some of the properties of (NAm)s comparing with similar nanocomposites prepared by simple mixing of colloidal nano silica with the acrylic latex which synthesized previously by emulsion polymerization.
