Abstract:

Over the past few years, nanotechnology has known as a new and interensing research area that related to the design, synthesis and fabrication of structures at the molecular scale. By manipulating material at the molecular level, new basic material properties can be produced. Because living tissue itself is principally concluded biological ‘nanomachines’ and nanostructures, researchers identified that nanotechnology could be very useful for biology and medicine fields. Nanomedicine generally can be described as the monitoring, repairing, construction and control of human biological systems at the cellular level by using materials and structures engineered at the molecular level. The principle interests currently lie in improving diagnostic procedures and in developing better drug delivery systems to improve disease therapy. Nanoporous materials, another group of inorganic molecules, have recently attracted interest for use in molecular medicine. Such materials, with pore sizes ranging from less than 2 nm to 50 nm, include zeolites and related molecular sieves. Zeolites are naturally occurring or synthetic crystalline aluminosilicates. The pore network of a typical zeolite, which is confined by the framework, consists of cavities and connecting windows of uniform size [1].Zeolites have been successfully used as detoxicants and decontaminants when added to animal diets they decrease the level of heavy metals and organopoisoning, radionuclides and ammonia as well as antibacterial and antidiarrhoeal factors. Zeolites have been utilized for haemodialysis, and in cartridges in haemoperfusions as well. Zeolite powder has been displayed to be effective in the treatment of athlete’s foot and in lessening the healing time of wounds and surgical incisions. Tissue conditioners containing silver-exchanging zeolites displayed a intense antimicrobial effect [2].NaY zeolite is a kind of zeolite that can be used in biomedical area. Dai et al. were studied the immobilization and electrochemical behaviors of cytochrome c on a NaY zeolite modified electrode [3]. A catalyst is a substance that increases the rate at which chemical reactions approaches equilibrium without itself becoming permanently involved in the reaction [4]. Catalysts are often classified as biological catalysts (enzymes), homogeneous and heterogeneous. In biological catalysts systems, the most of the reactions occur in living organisms. These types of biochemical reactions are catalyzed by molecules called enzymes [5]. The electrochemical actions of redox substances such as glucose oxidase and horseradish peroxidase created in NaY modified matrixes have been studied [3].Traditional methods of the synthesis of NaY zeolite involve crystallization from a gel or a clear solution under hydrothermal conditions. In recent years much attention has been focused on preparation of nanosized zeolite crystals and some synthetic methods of nanosized NaY zeolite crystals have been reported [5].In this paper, we studied the synthesis of NaY zeolite in nanometer scale for biomedical application.
