Due to the unique structure of Flux Switching Permanent Magnet Generators (FSPMG), the interaction of permanent stator magnets and rotor teeth, the generated cogging torque is higher compared to other permanent magnet machines, which increases torque ripple and produces vibration, noise and poor machine performance. Suitable design of machine structure reduces vibration and noise of PMFSG and also improves generator performance and increases machine strength, power and efficiency. Related studies show that PMFSG have highly efficient and an attractive option for wind turbine generator applications and small scale applications. That is why the cogging torque in these generators is very important. Therefore, in this paper, a flux switching permanent magnet generator with spoke arrangement and toothed rotor with a single-layer slot and a permanent magnet inside the stator were designed, which have less cogging torque and higher output power. Simulations have been performed with the two dimensional Finite Element Method (FEM) and optimized by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). Optimal model design will reduce cogging torque, reduce torque ripple and improve output power.
