Increasingly accumulation of the solid waste materials has become a major environmentalproblem of communities. In addition to the protection of environment, the recycling andreusing of the waste materials is financially beneficial. One of the applications of the wastematerials is for highway construction. In this research, the viability of using the recycledconcrete, asphalt and steel slag powder, as a replacement of the primary mineral filler in asphaltconcrete has been investigated. The primary natural siliceous aggregate filler, as control, hasbeen replaced with the secondary recycled concrete, asphalt and steel slag powders, and someengineering properties of the mixtures have been evaluated. Marshall Stability, flow, indirecttensile strength, moisture damage, static creep and volumetric properties of the mixtures havebeen evaluated. The results show that, the Marshall Stability of the mixtures containingrecycled powders is higher than that of the control mixture. The flow of the mixtures containingrecycled steel slag is lower, and that of the mixtures containing recycled asphalt and cementconcrete powder is found to be higher than that of the control mixture. It is also found that theresistance against moisture damage and permanent deformation of the mixture can be improvedby replacing the natural filler with the recycled powders. The volumetric properties of themixtures are not significantly influenced by replacing the natural filler with the recycledpowders.
