Vocabulary learning and teaching has been considered as one of the most important mechanisms of any educational program. Teachers have been using many techniques to help the learners to develop their knowledge of vocabularies in quality and quantity. It is clear that vocabulary cannot be ignored in studying a foreign language. Flashcard is one of media which can help the teacher to teaching English easily. Flash cards in teaching vocabulary are very simple visual aids and the teacher can make the students more active during the teaching learning process. The student in seventh grade junior high school begin to learning English. They begin to know and mastery many simple vocabulary, start from nouns, verbs and adjectives. The students experience in learning English is less. They have never studied English in elementary school. It causes their English vocabulary less. The second cause is the lack of learning motivation. This is because they do not figure out English. The role of English teacher is very important because they have the task to give the basic introduction of the first foreign language. Then the teacher must use the appropriate of media for easily the students learn about vocabulary. The objective of this research is to improve students’ vocabulary. The researcher used flashcards and posters which made by teacher and students to improve students’ vocabulary. The researcher used flashcards and posters as one of teaching media in teaching to activate the students in learning process and most of them are interested. Based on the problems above, this research was done to answer the following questions: (۱) how is the students’ vocabulary achievement before and after the use of flash cards? (۲) How can flash cards improve student’s vocabulary? (۳) How is the students’ response of the using the application of flash cards? This research used Classroom Action Research. The researcher conducted the classroom action research at Al_Zahra high school which is located in Ghale’Ganj in seventh grade students. The researcher used test, observation, questionnaire to collect the data. To analyze the data, the researcher used descriptive quantitative analysis; it is to present the result of study in the form of descriptive explanation. Statistical analysis is used to analyze the data about the improvement of students ‘vocabulary. Based on the result of this research showed that there was improving on students’ vocabulary, this finding successfully can be seen from the result of students’ mean score. It can be seen from the mean score of pretest were ۸۷.۷, the mean score of post -test was ۸۱۱۷. In conclusion, the writer shows that using flash cards is an interesting media because it could attract the students’ interest and it can improve students’ vocabulary.
