Attention to the environment and especially adverse effects of solid wastes is an issue which has been of high importance to the concerned authorities in the recent years.Controlling wastes and their environmental adverse effects would promote health and of life man and other creatures.At the present, due to rapid increase in population in one hand and lack of waste removal in the other hand, environmental concerns has received more attention.This clearly shows the importance of waste science and waste management in an country and specially in urban areas. In this regard,amount of waste production,storage,collection,transfer,processing and disposal of Yazd urban wastes is investigated. Subsequently,through analytical approach of SWOT (strength,Weaknesses, opportunities,threats) and Quantitative strategic planning matrix (QSPM),the relative attractiveness of strategies have been determined and classified according to their priority.The strategies are collected to use the opportunities and overcoming the outside environment,considering to promot strengths and remove weakness of system.Applying the above management methods would result in better performance and also effective role in optimization of urban environmental waste management
