خلاصه مقاله:
Objective: This narrative review focuses on the effects of fasting and calorie restriction on aging and cognitive function in the brain, identifying potential strategies to promote healthy brain aging and prevent age-related cognitive decline. Results: This research shows that dietary interventions such as calorie restriction and fasting can have positive effects on brain health and cognitive function. These interventions may increase synaptic plasticity, improve metabolic balance, reduce inflammation, and increase autophagy and mitochondrial biogenesis. This review also discusses the potential benefits of ketogenic diets and intermittent fasting diets. However, more research is needed to fully understand these dietary interventions' mechanisms and long-term effects on brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases .Conclusion: Dietary restrictions and novel approaches like the GF can potentially delay brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases. Further research is necessary to understand interactions among factors, and the long-lasting effects and optimal duration of caloric restriction for Alzheimer's disease. Nutrient-sensing factors play a role in aging regulation, and while dietary restriction shows neuroprotective properties, more human studies are required to evaluate its effectiveness
