Pressure Drop Estimation of Structured Packings

Predicting the pressure drop of packed columns containing structured packing is key parameter in design of mass transfer processes such as distillation and absorption. In the present work,computational fluid dynamics is used to study the detail flow behavior and hydrodynamics of structured packings. The pseudo two-phase model is proposed to accurately predict two-phaseflow pressure drop of packed bed. The results of these simulations were compared withexperimental data and good agreement was found.
