Abstract:

The seismic cracking of Koyna gravity dam is evaluated in the present study. A nonlinearmodel based on Lubliner stress function was employed, which despite its simpleformulation and low computational time, has good accuracy compared to previousstudies. The HHT time integration method is used in the dynamic formulation. Thefoundation is assumed to be rigid and the water-structure interaction is considered basedon modified Westergaard’s method. The model proved to be efficient in predicting crackpropagation through the dam body alongside with having a favorable low computationaltime.
