Abstract:

The transportation of heavy and extra heavy crude oils from the head-well to the refinery is becoming important since their production is currently rising all over the world. The need of better understanding of the rheological behavior of the heavy and extra heavy crude oils are important for transportation in pipeline. Experimental measurements were conducted by using the rheometer. In this work, the effect of light crude oil and krosene addition on the viscosity of the extra heavy crude oil was investigated. Moreover, the experimental study in terms of the shear stress-shear rate were conducted on the mixture of the extera heavy oil. The results showed a significant viscosity reduction by addition of light crude oil and krosene, but krosene is more effective in viscosity reduction
