Abstract:

lamiaceae, also known as the mint family or Labiatae, is a large and diverse family of flowering plants that includes many herbs, shrubs, and trees. The family has a cosmopolitan distribution and comprises over ۷۰۰۰ specious in ۲۳۶ genera. Many members of the family are aromatic and have culinary or medicinal uses, such as basil, mint, rosemary, thyme, lavender, and Oregano. The family is characterized by having square stems, opposite or whorled leaves, bilaterally symmetrical flowers with two- lipped corollas and calyxes, and dry nutlet fruits. The family is closely related to Verbenaceae, and some genera have been transferred between the two families based on phylogenetic studies. Lamiaceae is one of the most important plant families for humans because of its economic, ecological, and cultural value.
