خلاصه مقاله:
Objective: It has been explored that Vitamin D play role in various non-skeletal disorders including Diabetes Mellitus. The present study was designed with the aim to assess association among control, pre-diabetic and diabetic with vitamin D and association between lipid profile and vitamin D. Materials and Methods: A total of ۱۰۹ subjects were recruited for the cross-sectional study including ۳۷ as control, ۴۱ pre-diabetic and ۳۱ diabetic. A clinical examination was done for all the groups including fasting samples (۱۲hrs) for lipid parameters, serum ۲۵ (OH) vitamin D level and (HbA۱/C). Results: It was found that in control subjects ۳۷.۹% have the sufficient vitamin D۳ level whereas ۱۷.۱% subjects in pre-diabetic, ۱۶.۶% in diabetic with good glycemic control and no subject was found to have sufficient vitamin D۳ level in diabetic with poor glycemic control. The mean vitamin D۳ levels was highest in control i.e. -۲۶.۵۳±۱۱.۹۹ ng/ml followed by ۲۰.۲۳±۴.۱۲ng/ml in pre-diabetics,۱۹.۰۷±۸.۰۱ng/ml in diabetics with good glycemic control and ۱۲.۹۲±۶.۷۷ng/ml in diabetics with poor glycemic control. HBA۱/c and serum vitamin D۳level share a significant association (P-value< ۰.۰۱).Total cholesterol (P-value< ۰.۰), serum triglyceride (P-value< ۰.۰۱), serum LDL cholesterol (P-value< ۰.۰۱) and serum VLDL (P-value< ۰.۰۱) had inverse association with vitamin D levels. HDL cholesterol has no effect with vitamin D. Conclusion: The present study showed vitamin D۳ deficiency as a risk factor for worsening glycemic control and dyslipidemia.
