Understanding the decomposition behavior and combustion products of composite solidpropellants is of significant interest. Nowadays, ammonium perchlorate (AP) is extensively usedin composite solid propellants as an oxidizer [۱, ۲]. AP has the highest effective oxygen contentamong the oxidizers, i.e., its oxygen balance is up to +۳۴%. However, since AP contains Cl, thecombustion of AP-based propellants generates significant quantities of HCl as a reaction product[۳], which is a toxic gas and its emission is an environmental concern. Moreover, the HCl producesa large amount of smoke in the tail of the rocket [۴]. In order to overcome this problem, a newgreen oxidizer as a possible replacement for ammonium perchlorate (AP) has been investigated inrecent years. ADN is a metal-free energetic compound with the chemical formula of NH۴N(NO۲)۲and is composed of ammonium cation (NH۴+) and the dinitramide anion (N(NO۲)۲-), It has a highoxygen balance (+۲۵.۸%), which is used in military explosives and smokeless solid propellants orgreen propellants [۵]. In this work, the effect of MOF-۱۹۹ on the thermal decomposition behaviorof ADN was studied. Different compositions of ADN/MOF-۱۹۹, i.e. ۹۸:۲, ۹۵:۵, ۹۲.۵:۷.۵, and۹۰:۱۰%, were prepared by the solvent method and their thermal behavior has been studied by DSC.Accordingly, MOF-۱۹۹, in spite of its low weight, improves the thermal decomposition behaviorof ADN significantly. In addition, the rapid catalytic combustion of ADN/MOF-۱۹۹ (۹۰:۱۰) wasshown in a sharp exothermic peak. The results showed that MOF-۱۹۹ can be introduced as anexcellent catalyst for modifying the combustion of ADN, due to its porous structure,Lewis/Bronsted acid sites, and dispersed metallic sites
