Abstract:
Today many countries in entire of the world follow up the policy of expanding tourism industry,that provide earning money by producing job opportunities, also introduce they’re history andculture. Tourism industry includes two different types: eco-tourism that refers to visiting the natureof a country (mountains, lakes, jungles, deserts etc.) and urban- tourism that refers to urban areas.Historic part of cities has a valuable potential for urban tourism. These parts of cities are shaped upover the years and reserve the history, culture and identity of a city. Therefore preservation of theseareas could promote their valuable factors. Making pedestrian zones is one of the recent methods to revival this historic part of cities. One typeof pedestrian zones that is more experienced in Iran is pedestrian way. Pedestrian ways in historic part of cities provide a rich context for urban tourism. The most important case studies of designingpedestrian ways in Iran can be seen in Tehran, Tabriz and Mashhad. In spite of this background inIran there aren’t sufficient studies about evaluation of the pedestrian ways impacts on urban tourism.So, this research concentrates on the historic part of Tehran and 15 Khordad Pedestrian way that is located in region 12 of Great Tehran. This area is shaped at Qajar period (1785 -1925) called Argcomplex. A number of tourist places can be seen in this walkway like Golestan palace, Arg squar (Meydan-e-Arg), Sabze-e-Meydan and Great Bazaar of Tehran.The main method of the research is based on content analyze, field study based on deep observations and a comparative study of urban tourism principals and design concepts in thepedestrian ways. Some results indicate that it is needed to review the design concepts of 15 khordad pedestrian wayaccording to a definite tourism plans. Also this tourism plan of should be provided in a cohesiverelation to historic part of Tehran. In this way the concept of urban spaces network is a key factor to improve the urban tourism in the Pedestrian ways and historic part of Tehran.
