This research aims to analyze the main sensor technologies utilized in theadvancement of autonomous vehicles. Sensors are of utmost importance in allclassifications of autonomous cars, as they provide the essential data forenvironmental perception, thereby aiding the decision-making process. Theautomotive sector is increasingly embracing the integration of intelligent andautonomous vehicles as a means to address issues related to traffic congestion,conflict reduction, and collision risk mitigation, hence strengthening overall driversafety. It is anticipated that these autonomous cars will demonstrate a notabledegree of situational awareness and adjust their behaviors in response to theirenvironment. The present essay provides a thorough and inclusive examination ofthe subject matter, placing particular emphasis on the domain of sensor fusion.The article explores the complexities of data collecting using various sensoryinstruments, such as RADAR (Radio Detection and Ranging), LiDAR (LightDetection and Ranging), cameras, and the integration of multi-modal sensor data.In the course of examining each of these subjects, we also identify areas of inquirythat provide obstacles and propose prospective avenues for future investigation.
